I purchased a bike off of Facebook marketplace for $150!!! This was a stressful point for me because my budget is tight and I absolutely need a road bike to train and complete a triathlon. So getting a bike for a good deal was extremely important! And, I needed one with a very small frame because I am really short, coming in at just shy of being 5 feet, 3 inches tall.
Luckily, I was able to find a bike frame that is 46 centimeters tall! That’s just right on the money of what I need! I bought a Dawes Lightning 2300 model (that is discontinued) for $150 cash! But, if I had to buy a new one, I would have probably purchased this one.
Now, I have never owned or been on a road bike before… so my first course of action was to drive to an empty parking lost and learn the basic’s of braking and shifting with one main goal, not to die! And you know what? I did it and I didn’t crash or die! I spent about 15 minutes spinning laps around the parking lot and I feel really good about it! I am excited to take my new bike out on a real ride soon!
