Hey folks! Welcome to Week 2 of my triathlon training series! (January 8, 2024 to January 14, 2024)
I am officially 28 weeks (and a few days) out from my the Spudman Triathlon scheduled on July 27, 2024! I already did my weekly weigh-in and workout plan, and now I am ready to get started with training!
Week 2 – Weight = 216.4 Pounds
This week we’re just ramping up very slowly, adding a couple more minutes on my rowing machine and on my bike. Most of this is going to be done indoors because it is full on winter, we got heavy snowfall on the ground, and I will not be running and eating it outside.
Workout #1 – 10 Minute Bike. I did my bike workout on my indoor stationary bike. It was a quick10 minutes, just a moderate pace to get some blood pumping and my heart going.
Workout #2 – 300 Meter Swim. I wasn’t supposed to swim until Friday, but the swim center is having a swim meet on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so they’re going to be closed to the public. I went ahead and just swapped out my row and swim days.
Yesterday was a very bad day for me mental health wise. Since the holidays are over, my therapist and I have been diving back into some hard things. When you are doing trauma processing in therapy, it really takes a physical, mental, and emotional toll. When I leave sessions that are really hard I am drained and am just ready to curl up into a ball with Jaxson.
So, I’m going to give myself some grace because I did not get the run yesterday. Instead, I took some time to complete some self-care. I love a good heating pad, bubble bath. Snuggling up with my favorite movie and some popcorn and hot chocolate. I just have remind that it’s okay to have bad days.
Workout #3, 4, & 5 -Weightlifting, 5 minutes of rowing, and a quick 5 minute run. Luckily, I am still pretty brand new into this training program so it’s all a very light amount of time as far as biking and rowing and all the things.
Workout #6 – Shoveling all the snow from my front drive way.
Well, that wraps up week 2 of my training! It went about as good as I could have hoped. Now, on to my week 3 weigh-in!
